Job Description

Hand over shift by communicating the details of the past shift from the incoming operator, ensuring that all information on problem areas is conveyed to the operator and Shift leader.

Create and close Permits to Work (Clearances) timeously.

Ensure to keep appropriate documentation for all production e.g.: works orders, process log, and manufacturing manual.

Ensure Effective communication of process conditions keep the Team Leader up to date and comprehensively complete the shift log at the end of the shift.

Communicate in an accurate, concise, clear, and prompt manner.

Communicate accurate and concise information to all stakeholders i.e. Laboratory, Engineering, Planning, Warehouse, and Customer Care.

Ensure close monitoring of reactions and effectively respond to abnormal process conditions.

Adhere to safety protocols and ZERO HARM strategy whilst applying lean manufacturing principles.

Monitor plant and equipment concisely and report any abnormalities timeously.

Dip tanks as and when required and during stock takes.

Perform various production calculations.

Ensure that all safety standards are maintained and report any deviations.

Conduct necessary equipment safety checks through the PMS system.

Rectify and report safety hazards promptly.

Assist with investigations.

Maintain good housekeeping standards on the plant.

Ensure Effective communication within the production team.

Assist in the Training of Junior operators and students.

Qualifications & Experience

Grade 12.

Minimum 2/3 years’ experience in a chemical plant.

Minimum qualification, NQF3 or Chemical Eng. Dip.
